hibernation.

I think I've slipped into hibernation mode. Winter is never easy on me. I stay indoors, but I stay busy... Mostly planning bigger things for my hair ornaments. I should have a huge variety for the launch of my spring line. I made 5 new headbands and 2 clips today. They're consistent to my original theme but also developing new ones. I need to think of a name. I want to come out with 50-100 pieces of handmade wearable art in seasonal launches, beginning with Spring 2010. They will include mostly hair accessories at first, but I've already started dabbling into jewelry. The first photo above is the result. I love the tea pot!

My crafts are getting more whimsical. I like it.

The future is full of projects to keep me busy. I'm searching for a dress form to get started on some clothes with a coworker who might be my style opposite. It should be interesting!

I'm shying away from the camera. I've been trying to get the word out that I'm looking for models interested in wearing my hair accessories and posing with horses at Molly's farm. We'll see how that goes! There are so many exciting opportunities... I'm feeling a little overwhelmed! I promise to attempt to stay on track and get more done... On a more daily basis...

I finished the night with a successful attempt at dying some of my silk flowers for the next line of my hair ornaments. Ballerina inspired!

Busy Bee.

I have continued to be completely busy. All the time.
But we did accomplish this photo shoot, which I'm hoping works
for the fall line of hair ornaments.



I'm no model, but they are cute. B-love worked his magic with the tobacco and green filters on C.A.'s Nikon. They look great.

I have 14 hair ornaments to take to Hello Bluebird which I WILL accomplish TOMORROW (there, it's in writing. You have to do it!)

I plan to get a lot more made in the next week. I need to work on them so much more than I have been able to lately. But hopefully things will pick up this spring... I plan to have a HUGE line for spring! Afterall, I have all winter to work on it. The theme is vintage ballerina. Neutrals with pastel pinks and blues. They're so cute!

Just Wednesday.

I made six new fancy holiday hair ornaments today! Each one has a brown and red flower, brown button center, peacock feather and green, red, and white spotted feathers in it. So they are pretty amazingly cute for Christmas! I'll put one on my Etsy and see what happens, but I definitely need to get the word out.

Crafty Tuesday!

I also began the process of re-vamping an old pair of shoes. I liked the style of the pumps, but the material (a shiny brown patent leather) was HIDEOUS. I first sanded the surface, then primed them with gesso. The painting begins tonight! I have a feeling they will be adorable.


In my downtime waiting for the layers of gesso and white paint to dry on the shoes, I doodled.


For dinner tonight I'm trying a new recipe for Orange Mango Chicken. I ran out of apples for the salsa, so this sounds like a great way to use my mangoes!

I feel I have accomplished a lot, and it's only one o'clock in the afternoon! I need to clean up now and head out to run some errands and pick Erik up at work... I'd like to stop by Hello Bluebird this afternoon to see how my hair clips are selling and possibly buy a little something for myself while I'm there... That store is just too cute!
